Former US Ambassador to Malaysia, John Malott in solidarity with Global Bersih

Unedited Video footage of John Malott, the former US ambassador to Malaysia gave his support to Bersih 3.0. He joined the Bersih 3.0 gathering at Washington DC.

I am John Malott, and I was the American Ambassador in Malaysia many years ago. I’m here to show my support for the Malaysians who are marching in Washington DC and around the world for free and fair elections. As an American, it’s not up to me to say who should run Malaysia’s Government. That’s up to the Malaysian people. But they have a right to do so through free and fair elections. As a citizen of a democracy, that’s what I believe in. I support the call for free and fair elections in Malaysia.

Thank you John Malott for your support!

I spoke a little softly, so here is what I said: I am John Malott, and I was the American Ambassador in Malaysia many years ago.
